Event: How to Turn a Business Card Into a Relationship

The pile of dusty business cards on your desk or floating at the bottom of your bag isn’t doing your career any favors. Networking can be tricky or feel shallow; it can be hard to make a lasting connection from just exchanging cards.

She Spends is teaming up with the Judy Greenwald Fund to help you network like a pro.

The “How to Turn a Business Card Into a Relationship” panel will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at IA&A at Hillyer, located at 9 Hillyer Court, NW, Washington, D.C.

The closest metro station is Dupont Circle - the North Q Street exit is less than two blocks from the Hillyer entrance. A list of close parking garages can be found here, along with the option to reserve a spot in advance.

Panelists include Diane Lim, principal economist at the Conference Board; Beth Parker, public relations director at PwC; Caroline Welles, special assistant at the Democratic National Committee; and Amy Weiss, CEO of Weiss Public Affairs.

She Spends Founder Alicia McElhaney, She Spends Editor Amanda Eisenberg and the Judy Greenwald Fund Vice President Rachel Greenwald will moderate.

Although the event is free, an Eventbrite ticket is required to attend. It will help us figure out how much wine and food to have waiting for you. We recommend you arrive early to grab a seat. There will be standing room for late arrivals.

We will also have gifts from Drunk Elephant, Amber E Lea, GloPRO, the Rifle Paper Co., and KAIKE that will be raffled off at the event, so bring some cash if you’re interested in a chance to win. The proceeds from the event will be split between She Spends and the Judy Greenwald Fund. She Spends will use its profits toward:

  • Podcasting equipment, as we would like to bring She Spends to your ears next

  • Covering our overhead costs, such as website maintenance

  • Paying contributing writers
